ABOUT - Janet Goldblatt

Janet Goldblatt Holmes began painting in 1996. A dancer by training, her interest was initially sparked during an art and movement workshop conducted by American artist, Barbara Mindrell. Since that time Janet has continued her training with artists in Toronto; presently, at The Toronto School of Art, with artist Brian Burnett. Janet has developed her style of painting using acrylic and watercolour; combined at times with pastel chalk, glazing mediums and encostic. Her inspiration is drawn from landscape, and the flow of movement within each one. Some are created through imagination; others a culmination of places visited in Canada and abroad. The inherent calm, majesty and ever changing of rhythms of nature are what carry her forward in life and her artistic endeavors. In addition to her paintings, Ms. Goldblatt's images have been recreated as a series of note cards. These, and the original paintings can be purchased upon request.
